Dog Won't Leave Autistic Owner's Bed In Heartwarming Photos

When 9-year-old James Isaac went into hospital to find a cause for his seizures, his therapy dog stayed with him.

James has autism and can't speak, won't look his family members in the eye or touch them. But when he was admitted to New Zealand's Wellington Children's Hospital, the hospital graciously let the dog, Mahe, stay with him in the room.

Mahe has changed the little boy's life, as well as the whole family's. James' mum, Michelle Isaac said: "We couldn't even go to a cafe as a family [before Mahe]. James would get very anxious and want to leave immediately. But when we got Mahe, James would just sit there waiting for us to finish our coffee."

Mahe was trained for six months as a therapy dog to assist with children who have autism. He's tethered to James when they leave the house, and if James runs towards the street or goes too far from home, Mahe will sit down and won't let him go any further.

"He was just looking at James, and looking really worried," Isaac said of their hospital visit.

The photos, taken by Louise Goossens, and posted onto Facebook truly show the worry in James, Mahe's concern and the bond that the two share.
