Conchita Wurst To Perform At Mardi Gras
Bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst, who won Eurovision in 2014, will perform at the Sydney Opera House during next year's Mardi Gras Festival.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra will join the Austrian singer for her From Vienna With Love show on March 3. Australian draga queen Courtney Act, Trevor Ashley and Paul Capsis will join Wurst on stage as special guests.
Act, a global ambassador for Mardi Gras, first met Wurst at the Life Ball in Vienna earlier this year.
"She's classy and she's dignified and she's got a brilliant voice, Act told AAP.
"I have seen her perform at the Life Ball and she's amazing."
Act will once again team up with Ashley for their show Gentlemen Prefer Blokes.
They'll perform three shows at the Rainbow Room, the unofficial festival club at the Sydney Opera House.
"We did it seven years ago in less glamorous surrounds and also I had a broken leg because I went skiing before we did the show and broke it and did the whole show in a wheelchair," said Courtney Act.
Other big names to step out onto the Rainbow Room stage in March, include stand-up comedian Gretel Killeeen.
"Marney McQueen is hosting karaoke and there's going to be drag shows later in the night," revealed Act.
The full festival program will be released on Thursday night.
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and party will be held on Saturday March 5.
