Listen to Jonesy & Amanda discuss the former Agadoo star 'doing time'
Most people who face the daunting prospect of going to jail would understandably be worried about the treatment they may receive from their fellow inmates or even the prison guards.
Being locked up if you are someone who has had any degree of fame would be even more of a worry as you are a visible target to other prisoners.
For Dene Michael, former member of 80's one-hit wonder Black Lace (remember that annoyingly catchy song 'Agadoo'...yes, THEM!) being behind bars meant he gained more than his fair share of attention, but not how you'd expect!
Serving ten weeks of an original six month sentence after being found guilty of fraudulently claiming benefits, Michael has revealed to The Sun he had a "very odd" request from the other crim's.
"But these terrifying criminals tell you to do something you do it, so we had a conga of convicts snaking around the jail," he explained. "They all seemed to find it hilarious and everyone joined in. It lifted the gloom somewhat. All the murderers and drug dealers wanted to be my mate.”
"It was all the time, everyone wanted to sing 'Agadoo' with me. It was surreal singing the party song about pushing pineapples and shaking the tree in such grim circumstances, but people were obsessed."
"At night when we were all in our cells, the entire wing was singing in chorus: ‘Agadoo doo doo’. I thought the prison officers would be angry but they found it hilarious."
Almost makes prison sound like fun.....ALMOST!
