This 80s Singing Star Got Arrested For Drugs And Looks Happy
Singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge has been arrested for drug possession at the US and Canadian border, and if her mugshot (above) is anything to go by, she almost looks happy about it!
The 56-year-old star was taken into custody after her tour bus was stopped by US Customs and Border Patrol in North Dakota.
According to documents obtained by a gossip site, agents on the scene found marijuana oil.
Etheridge claimed she uses the substance to help manage her pain from cancer.
While it is legal in some states including California, that is currently not the case in North Dakota.
She was eventually booked for possession of a controlled substance and has pleaded not guilty.
Etheridge spoke about her marijuana use earlier this year when she revealed she has smoked the drug with her two oldest children, and uses it almost nightly with her wife Linda Wallem.
Speaking with Yahoo as part of their 'Weed & the American Family' series, Etheridge said,
'Cannabis is the best marital aid, you get a nice indica,'
'When it’s date night, it takes down your inhibition. Your sexual desires are enhanced.'
'We take a bath every night and smoke and talk and wind down and sleep a very, very good night sleep. And sleep is extremely important.'
Etheridge then revealed,
'I have smoked with my older two,'
'I have to admit, it was funny at first and then they realized it's a very natural end of the day ... and it brings you closer.'
'I'd much rather have a smoke with my grown kids then a drink. Oh god, no.'
