All-Star George Harrison Tribute Concert Release

A home video and album documenting a star-studded 2014 tribute concert to the late George Harrison featuring performances by Ann Wilson, Perry Farrell, The Flaming Lips, Cold War Kids and members of The Beach Boys, The Killers, Weezer, The Cult, The Strokes and Spoon is due out in early 2016.

George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison will be released on February 26, 2016, one day after what would've been the former Beatles guitarist's 73rd birthday.

George Fest, which was filmed and recorded on September 28, 2014, at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, will be available as a two-CD/DVD set, a two-CD/Blu-ray package, a high-quality three-LP vinyl collection and a digital download.  The concert was co-produced by Harrison's son, Dhani, who also performed at the show.

In addition, the impressive and eclectic lineup included talk-show host Conan O'Brien, "Weird Al" Yankovic, founding Beach Boys Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, The Killers' Brandon Flowers, Weezer's Brian Bell, The Cult's Ian Astbury, The Strokes' Nick Valensi, Spoon's Britt Daniel and many others.

The show's set list is made up of a mix of Beatles songs written by George Harrison and his own solo compositions.  Ann Wilson sang "Beware of Darkness" and joined some of the other artists to perform "All Things Must Pass"; while Farrell tackled the Beatles classic "Here Comes the Sun" and Brian Wilson and Jardine were both featured on a rendition of "My Sweet Lord."

The video portion of George Fest also includes bonus interviews with a number of the artists who participated in the show.

You can check an official trailer for George Fest, as well as an audio performance of The Traveling Wilbury's hit "Handle with Care" featuring Dhani, Flowers, Daniel, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne and others, at the George Harrison YouTube channel.

Dhani says of the concert, "I've always imagined a small club show where my generation of musicians could cut loose on some of the deeper tracks from his career...I hope you enjoy listening to these as much as I do.  They are some of the best interpretations of my father's songs I could have ever thought possible."

The various George Fest packages can be pre-ordered now at GeorgeHarrison.com.
