Adele Sold Over Three-Million Albums In A Week
Adele's 25 is the first album in the Soundscan era to sell more than three-million copies in a week.
It bows on top of the Billboard 200 with 3.38-million copies sold in its first week of release, the biggest week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. 25 is now the biggest selling album of 2015, topping the 1.8-million sold of Taylor Swift’s 1989.
Adele's new album promo blitz also increased sales of her first two releases -- 21 moves from number-25 to number-nine with with 34,000 copies sold. 21 was last in the Top 10 in March 2013. And her first album, 19, is now at number-20 with 20,000 copies sold.
25 is also had the biggest debut week in U.K. history, with 800,307 copies. That tops the record Oasis set in 1997 with 696,000 copies of Be Here Now.
