Three Aussie Dramas Cancelled As Reality TV Rules

After five seasons, Channel Nine has announced that House Husbands which starred Julia Morris, Hugh Sheridan and Delta Goodrem has been axed.

Network program director, Hamish Turner, claimed funding problems meant the series which started in 2012 won't be returning.

'House Husbands had a great run over five seasons, and it certainly could continue with the numbers it was getting.'

Meanwhile Channel Seven has ditched The Secret Daughter which starred Jessica Mauboy, and 800 Words, 'is unlikely to return to the screen anytime soon'.

While scripted dramas are struggling on free-to-air TV, reality shows The Voice, The Block, The Bachelor, House Rules and Ninja Warrior are all set to return to our screens this year.

Not all is lost when it comes to producing Aussie dramas however with Wolf Creek and Romper Stomper returning on Stan, while Foxtel's Wentworth and A Place To Call Home are also set to return soon.
