The Masterchef Finals are at the centre of a bit of a scandal.
Contestant Ben Ungermann has been convicted for low-range drink driving in Brisbane, The Daily Telegraph has reported.
The father-of-three has been handed a two-month driving ban and a $400 fine as a result. According to the newspaper, he was pulled over by the partner of Constable Leah Stevenson, who the sister of fellow Season nine contestant Nicole.
The news comes just hours after TV audiences saw Ben earn the first place in the final three of this year's show.
A representative for Endemol Shine, who produce the Channel Ten program, provided The Daily Telegraph with a comment on the matter.
'Ben feels deeply remorseful about making this one-off judgement error and respected the actions of the police and the verdict of the court,' the statement said.
The contestant is a father to Ella, 13, Phoenix, nine and Oli, seven, and his dream is to 'open a small restaurant creating Dutch food', inspired by his grandmother.
