Sinead O'Connor Found Safe And Sound

Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O'Connor has been found safe and is receiving medical assistance after posting what appeared to be a suicide note on Facebook.

O'Connor claimed to have "taken an overdose" in a disturbing message posted on social media on Monday (AEDT).

"Well done guys, you've finally got rid of me," O'Connor said in the long message to her official Facebook page.

"The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name."

Irish police confirmed the singer had been located safe and sound and was undergoing treatment.

It is unclear what O'Connor's condition is.

According to Facebook, O'Connor has been battling with her son, Jake, and ex-boyfriend Lunny over the custody of her underage children, and has accused them of illegally keeping her from seeing them.

The singer explains they took her children from her after she became depressed following her surgery in August (15) and she also lays blame on authorities in the country for placing her children in the care of their fathers.

Fans of the singer responded to the post with messages of support.
