Two Years On We Remember David Bowie
Was it really two years ago that the Starman left us all in a state of shock following the news of his death?
Only days after releasing a new album, 'Blackstar' on his 69th birthday, music fans around the globe went into mourning for one of the most creative and influential artists of the past 40 years.
Tributes flowed for an enigma who not only constantly changed his appearance, wearing drag one minute to appearing as some type of alien pirate hybrid the next, but who never settled on narrowing his vision about the music he created.
Bowie typified the 'glam' sound during his early days, but he also produced stunning examples of pure pop, jazz, ambient music, and many more, merging them together in ways no one else ever had the vision to do.
Bowie meant different things to different people, but the one thing that united his fans was his message of individualism.
Be true to yourself and create what makes you happy.
There is so much more that can be said about an artist who is truly deserving of the title of 'icon' and who will go down as one of the most charismatic, creative and influential artists spanning two centuries, but personally I think it's best to simply just get lost in his music and let it take you to where anything is possible.
