Matthew McConaughey ALMOST Played Jack In Titanic
When we think of Leonardo Dicaprio's iconic portrayal of Jack in the film Titanic we think of how he was completely ROBBED at the Oscars with the award for Best Actor..
But what's even more shocking, it's just been revealed that Leo was almost robbed of role in James Cameron's 1997 film entirely too!
Kate Winslet, who was the female lead in Titanic as Rose DeWitt Bukator, appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and made mention of some jaw dropping information about the auditions.
According to Winslet, the producers over at the film studio Paramount Pictures had someone else entirely in mind to play Jack, and that is Matthew McConaughey!
Can you just imagine Rose saying "I love you Jack", and having McConaughey as Jack respond with "Alright, alright alright"....It just wouldn't be right!
But apparently it almost happened! And even Kate Winslet thinks it would have been strange.
"I auditioned with Matthew, isn't that weird?" Winslet said.
"Never said that in public before. I auditioned with Matthew, which was completely fantastic...It just wouldn't have been the whole, Jack and Rose, Kate and Leo thing."
But despite Paramount wanting McConaughey for the role, Cameron was insistent on Dicaprio portraying Jack and he didn't give up until he got his way.
And thank goodness he did because the three glorious hours of watching a young Leonardo Dicaprio save Rose's life, dance and just look incredibly good looking (that smile though...) is something we couldn't imagine living without.
