Kerri-Anne Kennerley Almost Shot Her First Husband

This morning Australia is talking about Kerri-Anne Kennerley's interview on Seven's Sunday Night after she revealed some very explosive and personal details about her life.

During the highly emotional interview with host of the show, Angela Cox, Kerri-Anne opened up about an abusive relationship with her ex-husband and revealed that it got so bad that one fight almost ended in murder.

The Australian entertainment host was married to New York music producer Jimmy Miller, whom she described as "charming beyond belief".

"He's this really almost exotic, slightly mad, born-and bred New Yorker. He built recording studios where I could record," Kennerley said.

"It was terribly glamorous...And I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and got reeled in." But behind the charm hid a seriously disturbed man who Kerri-Anne said became "very abusive" and regularly beat her to the point that one night she ended up in hospital.

The 64-year-old revealed that Miller had made her fear for her life.

"You know, you just realise that when somebody is 6"2', crazy off their head - doesn't matter which room you run into, all you do is close your eyes and wait for it to be over. Because it's pointless," she said.

"I think eventually you just go, 'I think I will be dead'."

However, Kerri-Anne reached her breaking point and decided that she wasn't going to be the victim any longer, after Miller had been "very bullying and aggressive and nasty again."

"He always had a .22 rifle above the door in the bedroom. So I just remember I was actually quite calm about it," she said.

"I just went and got the gun, aimed it at him and said, 'I will shoot you'."

"I was in a lot of trouble."

Cox asked Kennerley if she would have pulled the trigger with Kennerley answering, "I think I probably would have."

Kerri-Anne knew her current husband, John, during this time, but it wasn't until she showed up on his doorstep with a black eye and bloody nose that he realised she was in an abusive relationship.

"It was only when she suddenly turned up all beaten up that I realised exactly what was happening," he said.

Kerri-Anne and John have been married for 33-years and she has revealed that he was the "happy ending" to this horrific story.

"We're alive. It's just, you know, a more focused and busy life between me still trying to do some work and still care for John. But luckily I've got great help. But, year we are the happy ending."

Kennerley has been caring for her husband since he broke his neck in a freak accident in March 2016.
