Jamie Oliver Slams 'Deeply Jealous' Gordon Ramsay
Turns out you don’t just have to be in the kitchen to get burnt when you’re a chef and Gordon Ramsay just felt the flames of rival cook Jamie Oliver who reckons the foul-mouthed star is “deeply jealous” of his success.
At the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, Oliver, who can boast that he has £240 million to his name, majorly went off on one at Ramsay, in fact, he was so passionate about slagging him off, you could shut your eyes and actually imagine it was Gordon up there.
“Gordon will do anything to try and take the p*** out of me because he is deeply jealous and can’t quite work out why I do what I do and why he can’t do that,” he spouted. “He is too busy shouting and screaming and making our industry look like a bunch of shouters and screamers. He’s just a ranter, he’s paid to rant. He’s paid to shower negativity and all his protégés don’t talk to him because he’s like that and it’s a shame.”
He later said he regretted his comments, which, let’s be honest, saw him go off on a rant that could easily rival Gordon’s — just with fewer expletives. “I’m annoyed that I said anything because I did bite for a few years and it felt quite good but I don’t think it’s very responsible of me to take the p*** again because I don’t want his kids to get upset because I’m slagging off their dad,” he told AAP.
The chefs spat will come as nothing new knew, because they’ve actually been at one another’s throats for six years now. Their feud started in 2009 when Oliver criticised Ramsay for his patronising comments about an Australian TV presenter.
Oliver spoke against the Hell’s Kitchen star’s remarks in the Sun: “Aussies aren’t forgiving. Once you’re gone, you’re gone… It’s never good to criticise a woman, especially when they’re loved by their country and you do it on national television.”
Obviously Ramsay didn’t take Oliver’s comments lightly and branded him a “one pot wonder” to which the Essex chef mocked him for having botox. The bitching didn’t stop there though, when Ramsay was videoed exiting an LA eatery in 2009, he told TMZ that the last time he complained about the food at a restaurant was at “Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant”!
Oh, and then there was the time in 2010 that Oliver told The Mirror if he had to choose between Gordon’s cook book or his wife Tana Ramsay’s, “it would be Tana’s every time” because “her books are a damn sight better than his.”
