INXS Star, Cricket Legend Release Song
INXS drummer Jon Farriss has released a single with West Indian cricket great Viv Richards.
Titled Smokin' Joe the song features the deep tones of Richards, who's voice has been likened to Grammy-winning American singer Barry White.
Farriss met his cricket hero at a party in 2012 and says he instantly recognised Richard's love of music.
"Viv was such a charismatic and affable guy," Farris says in a statement. "We hit it off straight away and it wasn't hard to recognise his love of music. Given these parallels and my desire to hear him on a track, I approached him to see if he was interested in doing something musically and thankfully he said yes."
Richards is considered one of the greatest batsmen of all time.
His test cricket career lasted for 17 years from 1974-1991.
The release of Smokin' Joe comes just a couple of weeks after Tim Farriss severed a finger on Australia Day.
The INXS guitarist got his hand caught in an electric anchor while working on his boat.
A statement released at the time said he may never play guitar again after permanently damaging his left hand. AAP
