'Happy Days' Actor Al Molinaro Dies, Aged 96
Actor Al Molinaro, famed for his role as Al in the TV series Happy Days, has died at the age of 96.
Molinaro's death was confirmed by his son, Michael. The actor died from medical complications at a hospital in Wisconsin. It is reported that he was suffering complications arising from several gall stones which he chose not to remove due to his age.
Playing the owner of Arnold's Drive-In, Molinaro appeared in over 140 episodes of Happy Days alongside Henry Winkler as the Fonz and Ron Howard as Richie Cunningham. He left the show briefly to appear in spin-off series Joanie Loves Chachi but returned in 1984 for the final series.
Music fans will recognise Molinaro for his role in Weezer's 'Buddy Holly' video, a Happy Days tribute filmed in 1994. Former Weezer member Matt Sharp payed tribute to Molinaro on Twitter, writing: "We only spent one day with him, but he was just as kind as you would imagine."
He is survived by his second wife, Betty, his son Michael, and three grandchildren.
