Celine Dion's Brother, Daniel, Died From Cancer Aged 59
Just two days after Celine Dion's husband, Rene Angelil died of cancer aged 73, the singer has suffered another loss to the disease.
Her older brother Daniel, 59, passed away after battling tongue, throat and brain cancer.
The news was confirmed by their sister Claudette, to TMZ.
He passed away early Saturday morning, January 16 in Quebec.
“His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated,” read a statement.
After the tragic news of her husband's death, Celine Dion has canceled her January 16 & 17 Las Vegas shows at Caesars Palace.
She is expected to return to the stage at her Las Vegas residency on February 23.
A tribute for Daniel will be held at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny,Quebec, on Jan. 23. A religious funeral will take place at St-Simon-et-Jude in Charlemagne, Quebec, a few days later.
Daniel was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion. He is survived by his mother, Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters, Valérie and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren, Matis and Laurianne; and his many brothers and sisters.
