Candid David Bowie Dressing Room Footage Released
Legendary Rock'n'Roll photographer Mick Rock has released footage of a relaxed David Bowie hanging out in his dressing room with his band mates.
The clip is taken from Rock's 'Shot! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock', a new documentary exploring Mick Rock's past and present, from London's glam rock to New York's snarling punk scene.
In the clip, Rock talks about how artists accepted him as a peer on the inner circle, and not someone on the outer.
"I don't think they felt that I was an outsider," Rock says in the clip. "I was part of the fabric. I was celebrated and I think they all knew that. So I was a natural, organic Joseph Goebbels for the piece in the time. And I came pretty cheap."
Shot! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock features unseen archival footage and unearthed audio recordings of some of Rock's most famous names, including Bowie, Queen, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett.
The documentary also focuses on the the legendary photographer's own battles with the rock'n'roll lifestyle, with drug addiction and a near-death experience.
Shot! will be released in US theaters on April 7th.
