Ed Sheeran quits social media: “One comment ruins your day”

Horrible comments on Twitter have all gotten too much for Glastonbury headliner Ed Sheeran and he has announced he’s quit the social media platform.

Sheeran told The Sun, “I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it.

“I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that.

“One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it.

“The head-f*** for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Ed will continue to use his Instagram, sharing his posts to his Twitter feed.

The Castle On The Hill hit-maker explained that he looks to his family and friends to keep him grounded, despite his global fame.

“I have people like my dad who will have a conversation with me.

“I don’t have to have someone calling me a whatever.”

The 26-year-old also spoke about feeling the wrath of Lady Gaga’s fans after an interview.

“Lady Gaga’s fanbase read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f***ing hate.

“And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all.

“So I think Twitter gets on a massive steam roll of assuming things and then you get in the s***.”

Ed took to Twitter for the last time in June to defend criticism of his Glastonbury headline set. He was accused of using a using a backing track during his performance on the Pyramid Stage, but said "everything I do in my live show is live".
